Split Fee is live for UK recruitment agencies.

For engineering & manufacturing agencies

Job share your engineering roles with other agencies and split the fee

Engineering hiring is local and specific. The machinist or controls engineer your client needs may already be on another agency's books, a few miles from the site. Post the role on Split Fee and it is matched against candidates from agencies across the UK, with your client's name kept back until you both sign the placement.

Why engineering roles suit a job share

Engineering candidates often look close to home, and many roles turn on a skill only a few local employers use: a particular PLC platform, a CAD package, a CNC control. An agency that recruits in that patch or that discipline may already know the person.

Some agencies call it a second-tier arrangement, others a split. You keep the client and the vacancy, the partner agency brings the candidate, and the fee is divided when the candidate starts. You stay the supplier of record, and Split Fee invoices your client for you, collects the fee and pays both agencies. There is more on who invoices the client.

Putting an engineering role on Split Fee

  1. 1

    Describe the role

Job title, seniority, skills, salary range, hours per week and location. If your client needs several of the same hire, set the number of positions on one vacancy. Watch how to post a vacancy.

  2. 2

    Set your terms

A fixed fee or a percentage of salary, with rebate tiers if the candidate leaves early. You set them when you post, before any other agency sees the role.

  3. 3

    See who matches

Candidates from other agencies are scored against the role on skills, location, salary and seniority. Both sides see anonymised details until you each accept.

  4. 4

    Place and get paid

When the candidate starts, Split Fee invoices your client, collects the fee and pays each agency its share.

Roles that suit a job share

The tighter the skill set, the more a partner agency's candidates are worth. That covers most of engineering.

  • Mechanical and design engineering (CAD, SolidWorks)
  • Electrical, controls and PLC engineering
  • Manufacturing, production and process engineering
  • Quality, lean and continuous improvement
  • Maintenance and multi-skilled engineering
  • CNC machining and fabrication
  • Field service, fire and security engineering
  • Vehicle and EV technicians

Questions engineering agencies ask

Can I share contract or temporary engineering roles?
No. Split Fee handles permanent placements only, so contract, interim and temp roles stay off it.
What if the best candidate lives outside my area?
Location is one of the things a candidate is scored on, so the closest fits come first, whichever agency holds them.
Who invoices my client?
Split Fee does, for you. You stay the supplier of record, and both agencies are paid their share once your client has paid.
Can the other agency go to my client directly?
They don't see your client's name until both agencies have signed the placement, and the terms include a 12-month non-circumvention clause.
What happens if the candidate leaves early?
Your client's rebate tiers decide what they get back. The refund is shared in proportion, so each agency and Split Fee give up the same percentage of what they earned.
